“Cause we’re all somewhere in the middle
And we’re all just looking for love to change the world”
A Great Big World
Walking from class to class, you’ll notice the tons of posters lining the hallways. If you take a closer look, you’ll notice a new club being announced. It’s not just any club, though. A few years ago, schools weren’t even allowed to have clubs like these. However, today’s society is much more excepting. The Gay Straight Alliance was introduced to our school not too long ago and is run by Lauren Mistretta and Bryan Lang.

This is the first year of having a middle school GSA and they plan on making a lasting impression.  The acronym GSA stands for “Gay Straight Alliance”. The GSA is a group that wants awareness and further acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. They will stop at nothing to educate about these topics. “As allies we want this school and our community as a whole to be a completely safe place for all individuals no matter their sexual orientation or gender,” says Isabelle Butt, one of the group’s members and president. So far, they have a tightly knit group of individuals and they are always happy to welcome new people interested in joining. As a whole, the GSA shows tremendous drive to help shelters for LGBTQ+ teens as well as helping in their own school community with feeling safe. If you are interested in joining the GSA, the meetings are held every Thursday in room 201 from 3-4 p.m.
