Imagine you are standing during the National Anthem and you see someone not standing, but sitting down on the ground. How would you feel- outraged or impressed?

During the National Anthem of the Chargers vs. 49ers preseason game, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick protested by refusing to stand.

Kaepernick is doing this protest because he says are people being racist and mean to African Americans and minorities in the United States. Also, Kaepernick says that he is not protesting because he is Muslim; he is not Muslim.

Many current and former NBA (National Basketball Association) players agree and disagree with Kaepernick. The back-to-back MVP Stephen Curry supports what Kaepernick is doing. This is compared to Former 15-time All-Star Shaquille O’Neil, who says that he doesn’t like what Colin is doing.

Former 6-time NBA MVP Karrem Abdul Jabber says that “Insulting Colin Kaepernick says more about our patriotism than his.”

Barack Obama says that Kaepernick has the right not to stand.

Many NFL players are also following Kaepernick by not standing during the National Anthem. Kaepernick followed through with his protest by not standing during the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams.

Do you agree with Colin Kaepernick, or do you think he is doing an awful thing?
