A few days ago, the regime under Syrian president Bashar al-Assad attacked their citizens once again with chemical weapons, and that made everyone in the international community very upset, including the
United States of America. President Trump said that he was going to launch missiles at Syria, just like he did a year ago when he launched 56 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian airbase. But today, Russia proposed a statement saying that any missiles the U.S. launches at Syria will be shot down, according to a tweet by President Trump. He says, “Get ready Russia, because they (the missiles) will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’”. This is not the first chemical attack the Assad regime has had; they kill people with chemical weapons for no reason!
After World War 1, there was a ban on chemical weapons being used, but it’s been going on in Syria since March 2013 outside of the city of Aleppo. Since then, thousands have been injured and HUNDREDS killed from these attacks. The fact that a government is doing that to its own people is absolutely horrifying. Here is just one question that’s running through everyone’s heads: Why is Russia trying to help out the Assad regime, which kills citizens with banned weapons? I think we need to put a stop to Putin and what he’s doing with Syria. They should not be allies!
Should we be worried?
I don’t think we need to be worried. Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump have a strong relationship and I don’t think they will take this too far. But I think we should all pay close attention to the news and all of the networks because they all might say different things… you never know what might happen.
