McDonald’s has recently announced that they made a major change to their burgers: All artificial preservatives and flavors have been removed. According to McDonald’s, nearly two-thirds of all burgers and sandwiches on the menu have cut artificial ingredients. 

However, the signature dill pickle has stayed the same. “There are different types of pickles available, but to keep the taste our customers know and love, we made no changes to our signature dill pickle,” spokeswoman, Andrea Abate, said.

These menu changes are part of a plan which McDonald’s executives call a “journey”: Trying to change the perception of how people see the chain. Recently in the fast food industry, McDonald’s has been painted as the villain or bad guy. During a call with the press, Chris Kempczinski, McDonald’s USA President, said, “We do believe it’s improving customers perception of McDonald’s.” McDonald’s wants to create a new reputation and be known for more natural, healthier fast food. In addition, this “journey” includes remodeling restaurants, adding table service and kiosks.
